Advent Conspiracy: Give More

Read John 1:1-14 in the Message translation for a fresh perspective.

Consider the following questions:

  • What are some of the dangers when we associate love primarily with the giving of material objects?
  • What are some other ways we can give that clearly communicate love?
  • Read Matthew 1:18-23 and Isaiah 7:14.

    • What is the significance of the name “Immanuel” (God with us) to you?
    • What is one aspect of Jesus’ incarnation (Him “moving into the neighborhood”) that you want to experience this year?
    • How can you embody the incarnation for others by giving your presence to them?

See our Advent page for resources on giving beautiful, thoughtful gifts this Christmas.

Some closing thoughts from Advent Conspiracy:

God was here in flesh and blood and by his life, death, and resurrection, we now have hope.  This is what the Incarnation means to us…

Now we can creatively give to one another the gift of ourselves. It becomes more about “presence” than “presents.” And it is in these moments that others begin to get a sense of who God is.  Perhaps even a watching world will take notice as we worship him and love one another. Perhaps as we now take this Conspiracy outside the walls our our own churches and homes, the world itself will be loved and served.
